We had a nice couple of zero days back home in Vermont. The main reason for our break was to attend the wedding of a couple of good friends. We had a wonderful time hanging out with them in Burlington and out under the shadow of Mount Mansfield during their wedding and party. Thanks to Jacqui and Matt and Jacqui’s parents for having us and letting us be a part of their big day. It was a nice change of pace for a couple of hikers to be able to enjoy a few days of civilization.
In addition to seeing some friends tie the knot, we got to spend a good deal of time with our families. On Sunday night we had a nice dinner over at our neighbor’s house, they’re long time family friends. We hadn’t seen them since Easter, so it was nice to catch up… and Allen, we missed you at dinner, we’ll catch you next time! Thanks to Lori and Byron for having us over for dinner.
Finally, we did a resupply and replaced some equipment. My LL Bean hiking poles had one of the metal tips wear off, and neither of them could collapse anymore. We stopped by the LL Bean in Burlington and I was very easily able to replace the poles. We’re big fans of LL Bean.
We also visited one of our other favorite outfitters… Outdoor Gear Exchange, which is right on Church Street in Burlington. I got to replace my pack cover and wool underwear, while Bear Bell found a new pair of hiking shoes to finish off the hike.
