Day 143: 8/30/16 (Virtual AT 2020 Day 150)

What a day… we covered 20 miles, during which we climbed up and over Saddleback, all the way to Poplar Ridge Lean-to. We’re both very tired, to say the least, and unfortunately Bear Bell’s knee has started to bother her.

We had nice weather all day, a nice change from yesterday’s dreariness. We enjoyed a few breaks today, both by ponds. During our lunch break at Eddy Pond we had a little red squirrel watching us, hoping we’d drop some food. Those little guys really have no fear. We’ve been picking ponds for breaks not just because they’re a nice place to rest, but because we’ve heard they’re a good place to spot a moose. We’re still seeing signs of moose, but we haven’t seen one yet.

We’ve got another big day planned for tomorrow, but that may change due to the knee. We’ll play it by ear and see how we’re both feeling and perhaps get into Stratton on Thursday morning instead.
