Before our Appalachian Trail hike, we knew we’d need a way to keep our devices charged (as well as our rechargeable headlamp). We picked up the 16000 mAh Anker battery pack, and it proved to be a great portable energy solution.
Why We Like It:
With 16000 mAh, the Anker Battery pack was able to charge my Samsung S7 about 4 times fully, so it provided more than enough power to get us through a week in the woods. We were able to further reduce our power needs by keeping our phones on airplane mode most of the time. This is the battery pack that let us write our blog posts every night on the trail.
The Anker Battery Pack is fairly small, so it doesn’t take up much room in our pack. It’s about the length of a Hershey Chocolate bar, and about as thick as a Twix. It’s light for the energy it holds, weighing 11.5 oz. It has two USB outputs, allowing charging of two devices at once. It has micro USB input for charging from a wall; the same charger as as our phones, so we only needed one wall charger. The pack can also be fully recharged in about 8 hours.
We’ve come to find that the exact model of Anker Battery pack that we took with us is no longer available. That’s no worry though, there are plenty of options available. We’d choose another Anker Battery pack. In fact, the newer version of the one we have is only 1oz heavier, but holds 20100mAh, which could charge our phone almost 6 times.
We were not sponsored by Anker, or anyone for that matter, to provide this review. This is a battery pack that has worked for us, and we continue to use it now. Head on over to Amazon to check out the other battery packs from Anker.
